Hi Everyone!
Environmental Day at Ms. Coolidge's House was great!  The rain held off for the most part and there were only a few black flies in the wooded area.  You may have had some wet, and tired children but I hope they had some interesting things to share with you about their day.  If your child accidently took his/her Environmental Day book home could you please return it to school.  The children will be completing them this week with things they have learned and be sharing them.  Thanks to everyone who donated cookies/juice or chaperoned!  The extra juice and  packaged cookies will be brought with us on our Songo River trip June 1st.

NWEA testing is now complete.  The scores will be coming home with the report card on the last day of school.  If you wish to know your child's scores ahead of time, just let me know.

Last week I was able to get much of reading and spelling testing done with some help from volunteers.  The students have been working on their timed math facts scores and have begun their final writing prompt.  This quarters prompt is to write an animal adventure story.  Many of the children are having fun with this one and have some amazing idea.

Everyone completed color poems this week and made unique frames for their poems with magazine clippings.  I will laminate them and hang them in the hall for a while before I send them home.

The children also completed posters of the water-cycle.  They look super!  They were asked to draw and label each stage of the water cycle.
Each child is also entering the Faye Taylor Memorial Art Show that is coming up the weekend of May 27th.  All grade 1-6 students have been invited to submit a drawing on the theme "camping". They offer cash prizes and it is a great way for our school to connect with the community.

Hope you had a great weekend!                              Mrs. Lavoie
